POSITIVE MINDSET 02/06/20
Today's topic is that I hold very close to my heart, I grew up in an environment where the importance of a positive mindset was always reinforced. Therefore, I've used this skill throughout my almost 27 years on this earth, Well, I can say I’ve always tried to, and the majority of the time it has helped a lot!
The importance of a positive mindset is, as the title states, exactly what this blog is about today. There are so many reasons why this is without doubt, a fact, and I will explain exactly why.
First things first, the mind is a very, very powerful tool that we have access to whenever the heck we want, but how we use it determines what the outcomes will be.
I have a prime example of how having a positive mindset helped me to achieve a massive goal in one of my chosen sports, CROSSFIT. It all started about three and a half years ago when I told people that my personal goal was to make it to a Regional level Crossfit competition. At the time, I will be honest, I didn't 110% believe in this goal ... this is where I went wrong. So, for a year, when people asked me about this goal I would use phrases like; ... "Oh yeah... training is going okay I guess., I could be doing this better and I could actually be practising this more....". Seriously, what the heck?! How can someone achieve a goal when they don't believe in it themselves?!
A year went by and I was asked by one individual;, "Krista, are you serious about making it to a Regional level crossfit competition?.. Because at this point in time it doesn't seem like you’re serious about it?!". This individual was right, as much as it hurt to hear. All the training I was putting in, all the effort. But I had to ask myself, was it the right kind of effort, the right way to train?. NO, it wasn't. That comment made me really look at how I was trying to achieve this goal. I realised that when people asked me about my goal, I was using words and phrases that, while not exactly negative, certainly weren’t positive.
I decided to do something about it. I came to realise that and realised it was the overtraining I was subjecting myself to, the lack of awareness of how much my body needed in regards to food, and of course my mindset towards this goal, had all led me to somewhere I didn’t want to be.
I didn't believe in myself.
I needed to switch my mindset to a more positive one and that’s exactly what I did. Some things I did to help with this was being super careful on my words I used, no negative words. I read more inspirational books and listened to podcasts, I started to believe in myself. Guess what happened once I did that?! A year and a bit down the track, I achieved my goal, I made it to a Regional level crossfit competition. All because I had a POSITIVE MINDSET towards this goal.
As I mentioned before, your mind is so powerful, if you truly believe in something and you think positively about it then of course it will happen, It may not happen overnight, but it will happen. Good things take time and hard work., All that hard work and time makes that thing so much more rewarding when you do achieve it, because you put effort into achieving it.
Having a positive outlook and mindset towards life in general will benefit you so an individual! I;m not saying that it’s easy, but I am saying that by having a positive mindset you can achieve anything you put your mind to. Push for those goals and dreams, work hard with a positive mindset and great things will happen.
Talk soon Legends!
